About Santorini
Santorini is a volcanic caldera rim, and its hotels are carved into it. Whitewashed cave suites with private plunge pools cascade down the cliffs of Oia, Imerovigli and Fira, facing west for the most photographed sunsets in Greece.
Caldera views command a premium, especially in Oia between June and September. Imerovigli offers the same panorama with fewer crowds, Firostefani is a quieter walk from Fira, and the black-sand beaches of Kamari and Perissa deliver pools, tavernas and half the price.
Most properties are small (10-30 rooms) and book out months ahead for summer. Shoulder season (May and October) brings warm days, open restaurants and rates 30-50 percent lower.
